Many asked Joe Biden if he’d actually end up becoming president. The veep said so many times. Tonight the Potomac will answer the questions that the 41st American President, “The voice of reason” wrote on his website, “will decide whether the people of the United States should elect me to lead them.”
Here is the full text of the former VP’s ballot blurb:
– A lifetime in public service.
– A proven record of success in leading people together.
– A recognisable face and voice.
– An unyielding commitment to fighting for the American people.
– Known for his boundless love for his family.
– Can bring Democrats together to rise above the divisions of the past and secure victory in November.
– A lifetime of success in leading people together.
– The voice of reason on national and international issues, skilled at uniting Americans regardless of their politics, and trusted by both parties.
– What more could people want?
Well, a guy who thinks ghosts exist and read Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Just like the last guy.
And not just that guy, the guy who grew up in poverty, missed over eight months of school because of cancer, started a fishing and hunting family, was told he would never reach the top and had 30 people who weren’t close to him, including his closest friends, expect he die young.
Joe Biden can run.
The men who should be running are not running.
Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Donald Trump, Mitt Romney and Ben Carson.
In other words all the people you have tried and failed to get out of the race.
They are men with the wherewithal and experience you have already seen again and again – but who did you choose to be president instead?
Now I know there are many good Republicans, Republicans who are willing to do anything or get anything done, who you think may one day emerge and offer a better vision.
I did not think the problem with Jeb Bush was that he was too far to the right. The problem with Jeb Bush was that he had the wrong vision. His vision is more like the Republican Party that we’ve had for the last thirty years – where Republicans just say no to everything. It’s a vision that calls for less investment in the future. A vision that represents a return to more of the same failed policies that created the great economic anxiety in the first place.
You want a message of innovation? Jeb Bush’s the guy. Look at his record at At&T. Look at his record in the governor’s office – one of the great economic turnaround stories of the last two decades. You want an immigration plan to build the American Dream into reality? You want a responsible path to legal status for illegal immigrants? You want a plan to rebuild the infrastructure of America? Jeb Bush’s for you.
And for those of you who believe that this Administration has failed to articulate the values and ideas that will best help you, I have a message for you.
Because this Administration and this President have failed you, I am running for President of the United States.
Joe Biden’s running for president of the United States.
P.S. His first stop as a candidate will be East PMA (12050 Dean Road, PMA Park, Virginia).
