Jake Paul is clearly a fan of a certain UFC fighter — and now he can show it.
UFC featherweight champion “The Chosen One” Tyron Woodley made good on a promise to tattoo the YouTube star’s name on his left arm if he beat him in the octagon.
Woodley wasn’t happy after getting split-decision defeat in his last fight against Demian Maia at UFC 213. He was especially upset with judge John McCarthy who gave the fight to the challenger.
McCarthy later said he thought Woodley got tired during the fight. But he explained his split decision for weeks.
Woodley paid Paul a very hefty six-figure sum for the tattoo: between $12,000 and $15,000, according to Fight Hub TV.
“This tattoo, it’s going to be forever,” Woodley told MMA Juke. “If we’re going to do this, I have to do it properly.”
He explained his choice of Paul’s face for the “I Love Jake Paul” tattoo.
“The reason why I chose Jake Paul is because the kid is so relentless in his actions,” Woodley said. “Jake Paul is one of those kids you want to be like. He’s so quick and so expressive and he just has this arrogance to him that I love. He’s not really out here to try to get money out of you. He just enjoys putting himself out there.”
In a post on his YouTube channel, Paul thanked Woodley for “wanting to own my heart.”
“I’m in no way sorry for paying you this money but if I could, I would give it back,” Paul said. “I’m not responsible for my actions in the past, and I’m glad you’re accepting this money. But please respect that I have realized my mistakes and decided to forgive you.”
