A police hunt is on for the man in a CCTV image who witnessed three incidents surrounding Gabby Petito’s murder last month.
It is understood officers in Glasgow are to release the man who was photographed in the area of the road where Ms Petito was killed in the early hours of 30 May.
A report on the investigation is expected to be published this week.
Man released after questioning over Gabby Petito murder
A man from Milngavie has been released without charge after his post-mortem examination revealed he was not directly involved in the murder of 19-year-old Gabby Petito.
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Barton said the post-mortem gave cause for an “altered cause of death”, and could not rule out that the cause of death of the student from Portlethen was linked to the nightclub he was in.
Pupils and staff of George Lowles Academy, near where Ms Petito was killed, were “shocked and saddened” by the death of the teenager, who was studying for a degree in sports and exercise science at Strathclyde University.
Officers seized a mobile phone on Friday at the home of 51-year-old Paul Nolan, as they searched his isolated farmland home in Hawksfield, Roxburghshire.
